Germany is embracing a new era of change, as they move forward with a limited legalisation of cannabis, bringing a fresh and progressive approach to the issue.
Despite facing obstacles from the EU, the country is determined to create a more inclusive and open environment for responsible cannabis use.
In a triumphant announcement, it has been revealed that Germans will soon be allowed to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis and even grow up to three plants at home.
This exciting development not only empowers individuals but also fosters a sense of community as cannabis clubs become legalized. Taking inspiration from Spain, these clubs will provide their members with access to cannabis that they produce themselves, in a safe and regulated environment.
German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach enthusiastically shared the news on Twitter, stating that cannabis legalisation “is coming after all.” Although the proposal doesn’t go as far as initially planned, it still signifies a considerable step forward in redefining Germany’s approach to cannabis.
Originally, the vision was to create a “model for Europe,” allowing over-the-counter sales at specially licensed shops.
However, due to EU treaties, the final plan has been adapted to permit countertop sales in select project regions for a limited five-year period. These projects will be closely monitored by a group of academics, assessing the impact on consumption and the black market.
This progressive move comes as part of a commitment made by Olaf Scholz’s centrist coalition in late 2021. The government’s junior partners, the Greens and the Free Democrats, have been instrumental in advocating for change, representing the interests of a younger and more forward-thinking voter base.
As Germany embarks on this exciting journey, they demonstrate their commitment to fostering a positive and open-minded society.
The limited legalisation of cannabis is not only a victory for personal freedom, but also a testament to the nation’s willingness to adapt and evolve, setting the stage for a brighter and more inclusive future.
Amazing read .
Surely it’s only a matter of time we (UK) relax the rules .
26 years ago I was charged / banged up (for a large amount of cannabis) due to my relaxed views on the drug vs alcohol. More good having that in the streets .
And as a nation still in the same barbaric laws . Resulting in dodgy deals on the street , taking chances online and because it’s illegal it’s in the drug test list inside HMP UK wide , pushing people onto water based drugs which are highly addictive . Even a prison guard referenced to how quiet a jail was in the 70s rightly or wrongly .
Hi there, thanks for the comment.
What are the water based drugs you mention?
